Quality Assurance Analyst

The Data and Quality Assurance Analyst is a proactive, self-starter who operates across all phases of data and software discovery and delivery, as an integral part of the product team. The Data and QA analyst at the Baker group is detail oriented and strategic, able to prioritize, focused on delivering high quality software products. This role reports to the Director of Product and works closely with our team of engineers.

Success in this role is ultimately determined by:

  • Quality of (newly built) products implemented into the production environment
  • Integration of scalable tests from documentation of calculations, data definitions, processes, and relationships
  • Ability to validate and measure data and product quality
  • Communication with partners and leaders

Principal Data and Quality Assurance Analyst: Key Responsibilities

  • Play an integral role with Baker’s Digital Product team to deliver high-quality products
    • Leads and supports quality and validation activities
      • Works with users, clients, product and engineering to defines data acceptance tests for use in data migration and product delivery activities
      • Creates data tests in line with technical and product specifications
      • Demonstrates an understanding of expected product outcomes - executes manual product tests and details results, works closely with engineers to achieve needed quality
    • Collaborate with leadership to design, plan and implement high quality, valuable products
      • Helps coordinates releases
      • Manually performs regression testing
      • Writes smoke tests (pending environment readiness)
      • Collaborates to develop and iterate on roadmaps, provides data-rich insights to mitigate risks, inform products and guide release plans
  • Enables high quality and strategic data outcomes
    • Guides data strategy and data management activities
      • Understand existing platforms, tools, and processes to define a plan for improvements to drive increased data quality and engineering efficiency as it relates to data practices
      • Documents expected outcomes, definitions and use cases for Baker’s data.
      • Understands, generates and keeps current documentation that depicts data processes and relationships between data generators and consumers.
      • Drives adoption of best practice data quality, governance and management techniques
    • Evaluate and quantifies business impact of data quality issues
      • Makes recommendations for data improvements including required process and system change
      • Communicate value realized through data improvement efforts
  • Guides a strategic roadmap for data migration and oversees quality
    • Prioritizes datasets planned for data migration, creates validation tests within and across datasets to ensure product launch readiness
    • Identifies opportunity within and across products to create efficiencies through centralization

Application Engineer: Full Stack Developer

The Application Engineer is a proactive, self-starter who operates across all software discovery and delivery, as an integral part of the product team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable cloud-based applications and infrastructure using AWS services and development suite. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet our business needs and exceed customer expectations.

The application engineer will build, develop and support cloud-based applications with the Baker software suite. There is a digital transformation happening at Baker, and new applications and improvements are continuously deployed to improve the customer experience and internal work flows.

Key Responsibilities for an Application Engineer:

  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications and services on the AWS platform.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Stay updated on emerging AWS technologies and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
